Notes

  • Justice of the peace and custos rotulorum for the hundreds of Caston and Holland, in the county of Lincoln, and also standard-bearer to King Richard II who reigned 1377-1399).
    Obtaining by gift from his royal master the wardship of Marian, daughter and heiress of Henry Lambard, he married that lady, and with her acquired certain lands in Long Sutton, in the county of Lincoln.
    Had two daughters, the unnamed elder daughter was married to Sir John Camoys, Knight.
  • Manduessedum Romanorum:
    Adam Repington, Esq. eldest son of Thomas, was standard-bearer to king Richard II. and had by the gift of the said king the wardship of Marian, afterwards his wife, daughter of Henry Lambard, from whom descended certain lands in Long Sutton in the county of Lincoln, Oldgate, Gannock, Sutton St. Edmond's, Horsemore, and Lutton, and who died the last of Richard II. and lies buried at Long Sutton.
    This Adam was justice of the peace and quorum, and custos rotulorum of Holland and Kirton, commonly called the king of Elloe, Kirton and Scirebeck hundreds, who took the abbot of Crowland prisoner*, 1397, 21 Richard II. for which service he was rewarded by Robert viscount Fitzwalter, general of the field, with a demi antelope Gules for his crest, maned, bearded, tusked, and hoofed Or, and billeted Argent to be borne by him and his posterity for ever.
    *Thomas de Overton 1392, died 1417.
