    CHELMSFORD PETTY SESSION.— Jan. 24
    Rescue of a House Seized for Debt.
    — John Candler, of Great Baddow, was charged with procuring the release of a horse which had been seized by John Henry Jeffreys, under an execution from the County Court.
    — Jeffreys stated that he seized the horse, and placed it in a stable at the Queen's Head, Chelmsford.
    — The next witness was Thos. Rippington. who had been apprehended for stealing the horse, but the charge against him was withdrawn, to enable him to become a witness against the prisoner.
    He gave a minute statement of a conversation he had with the prisoner, during which the latter authorised him to go and liberate the horse if he could, and witness did so on the night of the 21st inst
    — The prisoner, who had come to the Court as a witness against Rippington, who appeared very much surprised at the turn affairs had taken, was committed for trial at the Adjourned Session.

    SECOND COURT— WEDNESDAY.
    Before T. C. C. Marsh, Esq., chairman.
    Flaw in an Indictment. — John Candler, 28, matmaker, charged with feloniously abetting Thomas Rippington to break open a stable, and rescue a horse therein impounded.
    at Chelmsford, on the 21st of January, was acquitted, his counsel, Mr. Croome, having taken an objection to the form of indictment, which the Court held to be fatal.
