    LAW SITTINGSĀ—(This Day.)
    Rippington v. Spiers
    ________________
According to her will, cousin Richard Tipping Rippington initiated the law suit in the High Court of Chancery against Thomas Croxford Spiers of Thame.
Records held by National Archives show that the proceedings extended over quite a few years - at least from 1839 until 1844.
Information has it that this was not unexpected for law suits heard in the High Court of Chancery, which in this instance may have been an action for breach of trust; as the defendant is an Executor to Uncle Thomas' will.
Charles Dickens says in Bleak House that Chancery Suits were on the whole a bad idea! (serving to enrich the lawyers but not much else). The whole process was reformed by the Judicature Acts later on in the 19th Century.
The outcome of this suit is not yet known.

    _______________________________
This is a very confusing record; as there are no other Mary Rippingtons that were the daughter of Richard & Elizabeth - so this is either a mis-record, a mis-transcription or some other equally obscure event.
    _______________________________
The Mary Rippington in this family was alive in 1841 and living with her brother William and his wife in Willesden - the census even correctly shows her birth date as 1771.
When she died in 1844 she listed a large contingency of her family in her will that also correctly shows her relationship to this family.
Who the person was that was buried in 1794 is not known.
