Notes

  • Will Transcriptions - Waterperry baptisms and burials by the OFHS
    John Nixey - October 21, 1758
'He left 1 shilling to both his daughters, Mary Webb (wife of William Webb of Cuddesdon) and Ann Rippington (wife of Thomas Rippington of Waterperry).'
According to Waterperry burial records, Ann Rippington (wife of Thomas) was buried on May 30, 1757, over a year before her father wrote his last will and testament.
Her Father lived in Cuddesdon and Ann died in Waterperry - this is 1-1/2hr walk between them in those days, so maybe as an old man he never kept in touch.
Ann's husband Thomas was a second generation newcomer to Waterperry; his Grandfather having come from West Wycombe sometime around the English Civil War ... he was a farmer and quite important in Waterperry - being appointed  'Overseer to the Poor' ... even having an inscription to him made on the church bell.
In 1788 Thomas left over £400 to his children (equivalent to around £40,000 now) ... maybe Ann, as his wife, was living a life that was worlds apart from her Father.
